Intellectual Disabilities and Behavioral Health Services. Providing hope and opportunity to individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities or behavioral health challenges is the mission of the Barber National Institute.
A National Task Force on Adult Day Care was named and work began. The National Institute on Adult Daycare (NIAD) was formally organized as an NCOA unit in 1979. NIAD changed its name to the National Adult Day Services Association (NADSA) in 1995 to better reflect the trends of the rapidly growing industry to focus on day services.
Adult Day Programs. Adult Day Services provide a variety of programs and flexibility in services so that we can best meet the needs of individuals with developmental challenges and maximize individual strengths. We provide services that will foster greater independence, increase community involvement and improve social interaction.
On September 9, residences and programs across the YAI Network celebrated the start of Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Week. Starting this week and running through October, each YAI region will host events to celebrate their DSPs with a day of food, music, and fun.
